Feminine Care Basics: 5 Things You Need to Know

By: The Honey Pot Company

The Honey Pot Company was born out of one woman’s mission to heal herself and share what she's learned about proper feminine hygiene with the world. Spreading the good news about properly caring for your vagina in the healthiest way possible has been Honey Pot Co. Founder Beatrice Feliu-Espada’s top priority since founding the company in 2012. In this article, Beatrice shares her top five female hygiene tips. Combined, these feminine hygiene tips will help keep your honey pot happy and healthy all year long!

TIP #1:  SHOWER TWICE DAILY.

Rinsing off regularly is an important part of personal hygiene for women. Beatrice suggests taking two showers a day as part of your female personal hygiene practice to help keep your skin and vagina free of toxins that you come into contact with daily. Remember that your skin is a living, breathing organ that is capable of absorbing the essence of anything it touches or comes into contact with, including harmful chemicals. Cleansing with water and our plant-based personal hygiene products for females are the best way to keep those germs at bay. We suggest trying our sensitive or normal feminine washes for starters.

TIP #2:  POWER UP WITH PROBIOTICS.

The benefits of probiotics are endless.  From improving your immunity and digestive function to managing skin and bowel conditions, taking a daily probiotic has proven to be instrumental in regulating many of the body's internal systems and functions.  Probiotics have also shown to help maintain healthy pH levels in the vagina, as well as treat and prevent urinary tract infections.  Call it taking preventative measures if you will, but trust us when we tell you that it works!  The key is to stay consistent by making your vaginal health a top priority.  When taken daily, you will keep those pH levels in check.

TIP #3:  LET IT BREATHE & DITCH THOSE PANTIES!

In modern day times, wearing panties and undergarments are common practice and the expected norm for the majority of women around the world.  However, studies have shown that going commando can actually help prevent the collection of added moisture down there, and it can also reduce your chances of developing yeast, inflammatory infections, and bacterial overgrowth.  If you're not brave enough to weather the day without your favorite pair, try going without at night for starters to see the difference!

TIP #4:  YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Yes ladies, the rumors are true; good feminine hygiene starts with your diet.  What you eat and drink on a daily basis can definitely impact how your vagina smells, tastes, functions, and feels.  As the saying goes, what goes in must come down so why not maximize your potential by eating and drinking what's best for your body?  Discover some great foods for vaginal health and get your honey pot on the right track starting with your diet!

TIP #5:  LAWN CARE BASICS -- KEEP THE GRASS TRIMMED.

While we have nothing against our fellow bush babes, we also don't want to discredit the benefits of keeping your honey pot trim and properly manicured.  It goes back to that moisture and odor thing.  The more hair you've got down there, the greater your chances of dealing with issues of odor and moisture which can attribute to even greater health issues such as yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. When it comes to trimming it up, the options are endless!  Whether you opt for a bald eagle, a low fade, or an essential trim of overgrowth around the labia, a manicured honey pot is bound to be a happier and healthier one.
